Guns and Dragons Playtest Guide
Steam Request Access, dates, system requirements, and ChinaJoy 2026 hands-on demos.
ABUTTON Inc. opened the first public Steam playtest for Guns and Dragons (Guns & Dragons) to gather feedback on combat feel, weapon evolution, co-op stability, and camp meta-progression before the full Coming soon launch on Steam and Epic Games Store. As of early August 2026 the test is still active and scheduled to end August 10, 2026—if you have not joined yet, use Request Access on Steam now rather than waiting for a second wave. This guide explains how to sign up, how much time remains, what hardware you need, and how the ChinaJoy 2026 showcase fit—without unofficial keys or scraped executables.
New to the project? Read Getting Started first. For gameplay flow once you are approved, follow How to Play and Beginner Tips before your first deep run.
Playtest status: still live until August 10
The Steam playtest window runs July 30 through August 10, 2026. ABUTTON stated the start at 12:00 a.m. PDT on July 30 (which aligns with 9:00 a.m. CEST and 4:00 p.m. KST in press materials). On August 3, 2026, the test remains available online even though the ChinaJoy floor showcase concluded that same day—treat Steam as the authoritative client for hands-on play.
You still have roughly a week from early August to validate builds, test co-op, and report bugs. Plan multiple sessions if you want to compare mid-window patches; note build numbers when posting on Discord (discord.gg/ubyEsuCSky).
How to request access on Steam
Access is only through the official Steam listing (app ID 4687860):
- Open the Guns and Dragons Steam store page while logged into your account.
- Scroll to the Playtest or Request Access section (wording may vary slightly by region).
- Click Request Access and confirm. Steam notifies you when ABUTTON grants slots.
- Install the playtest branch when invited; do not expect a separate retail download before approval.
There is no public Epic Games Store playtest branch announced alongside Steam at this time. Epic remains a Coming soon listing for the full release. If you miss this window, read Release Wishlist Guide for how to stay notified about future tests and launch.
Avoid third-party “key generators” or Discord DMs offering downloads—they are not affiliated with ABUTTON and risk malware.
What ABUTTON is likely testing
Game Director Park Jun-woo emphasized responsive combat plus freedom to push over-engineered magitech weapons in the reveal messaging. Expect feedback forms or in-client telemetry around:
- Gunfeel — recoil, aim-down-sights, enemy hit reactions, time-to-kill on elites.
- Build evolution — rune, artifact, and altar reward balance across solo and co-op. See Altar Rewards for pick strategy.
- Online co-op (1–3 players) — latency, revives, loot clarity, PlayFab session stability. Steam lists Cross-Platform Multiplayer.
- Camp progression — offshore base upgrades and the magical companion at camp. See Camp and Base and Magical Companion.
- Performance — Unreal Engine scalability on minimum-spec machines and upcoming Steam Deck support marked coming soon on the store page.
Constructive reports that mention weapon class, party size, and graphics preset help designers more than vague “felt bad” notes.
Minimum system requirements
| Component | Minimum |
|---|---|
| OS | Windows 10 64-bit |
| CPU | Intel Core i5-4690 or AMD Ryzen 5 1500X |
| RAM | 8 GB |
| GPU | NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6 GB or AMD Radeon RX 6500 XT |
| DirectX | Version 12 |
| Storage | 10 GB available space |
Recommended system requirements
| Component | Recommended |
|---|---|
| OS | Windows 10 64-bit |

Co-op sessions with three players and heavy magitech VFX benefit from the recommended tier. Update GPU drivers before each session to reduce DirectX 12 shader stutter common in early Unreal playtests. Handheld players should read Steam Deck Guide for why verification is still listed as coming soon.
ChinaJoy 2026 showcase (concluded August 3)
ABUTTON exhibited Guns and Dragons at ChinaJoy 2026 from July 31 through August 3, 2026, overlapping the Steam playtest opening weekend. Attendees tried controlled demos on show floor hardware—a useful comparison point if your home PC performs differently. The physical showcase ended August 3; the Steam playtest continues independently through August 10. Show demos may not match the latest Steam build exactly; treat Steam as the authoritative playtest client.
Before your first session
- Verify free disk space (10 GB minimum).
- Read Controls for keyboard, mouse, and full DualShock/DualSense support plus Steam accessibility options.
- Skim Beginner Tips for extract discipline and altar stacking habits.
- Decide solo vs co-op; party up using Steam friends if testing Co-op scenarios.
- Wishlist the game and review Release Wishlist so launch notifications continue after August 10.
After the playtest window
August 10 ends the first announced public test, not necessarily all future tests. ABUTTON may run closed tests or larger open weekends before TBA retail release. Keep the Steam app installed or stay wishlisted so Steam delivers branch updates automatically.
Reporting issues responsibly
Use official Discord or Steam discussion threads tied to ABUTTON moderation. Include reproduction steps, platform specs, solo vs 3-player context, and whether the issue involved camp menus or in-run combat. Screenshots help for altar reward UI bugs.
