Builds Tier List

Weapon classes tell you what you hold; build archetypes tell you how runes, artifacts, skills, and upgrades combine across a run. This provisional builds tier list ranks those archetypes using Steam playtest-era observations (July 30–August 10, 2026) in Guns and Dragons by ABUTTON Inc. Nothing here is official — balance will move before and after full Steam and Epic Games Store launch.

Use alongside the weapons tier list, runes and artifacts guide, and weapon synergies to understand why an archetype sits where it does.

What we rank

We rank build archetypes, not player skill:

  • Crit precision (sniper / crossbow cores)
  • Elemental proc (SMG / fast firearm cores)
  • Sustain reload (revolver cores)
  • Spread frontline (shotgun co-op cores)
  • Kiting pierce (longbow cores)
  • Team aura support (flex co-op cores)

Each archetype assumes reasonable rune drops — roguelite RNG always exceptions.

S tier builds (provisional)

Crit precision anchor (co-op and skilled solo)

Headshot rules plus crit runes plus weak-point artifacts on sniper or crossbow bases. Why S-tier: Solves boss checks that stall most teams. Documented in playtest footage as the default anchor when aim is reliable.

Weakness: Cramped maps and anti-synergy altar offers.

Shotgun spread frontline (co-op)

Spread runes, on-kill procs, aggressive movement artifacts with shotgun firearms. Why S-tier: Mob control for 1–3 player teams with an anchor partner.

Weakness: Solo boss timers without backup — drops to B-tier alone.

A tier builds (provisional)

Sustain revolver (solo learning)

Reload speed, lifesteal-style altar rewards, precision skills on revolver bases. Consistent clears for new players; not the fastest speedrun archetype.

See solo builds.

Elemental SMG proc engine

Fast hits plus elemental runes plus proc artifacts. A-tier when setup completes early; without ammo sustain upgrades, falls to B-tier.

Team aura flex (co-op third slot)

Modest personal damage plus ally buff artifacts. Elevates entire squad DPS more than a third selfish DPS stack in playtest team reports.

See co-op builds.

Kiting pierce longbow

Projectile speed, pierce runes, charge reduction on longbow bases. Strong in open maps; map-dependent.

B tier builds (provisional)

Glass cannon spread (solo shotgun)

High mob fun, boss friction unless perfect skill and artifact RNG.

Incomplete hybrid pivots

Runs that swap themes every floor without committing — no synergy peak from runes and artifacts.

Meme excessive stacks

ABUTTON celebrates unreasonable weapons — these builds are intentionally B-tier for efficiency but S-tier for highlight clips when RNG aligns.

C tier builds (provisional)

Anti-synergy rarity chasing

Equipping highest-rarity drops that break your weapon class theme (spread artifacts on snipers, etc.).

Zero-sustain glass builds solo

Triple damage artifacts with no heal, shield, or reload sustain — workable in co-op with support; fragile alone.

Solo versus co-op build tier shifts

ArchetypeSolo tier (provisional)Co-op tier (provisional)
Crit precisionS (skilled) / A (average)S
Shotgun spreadB+S
Sustain revolverAA
Team auraC soloA
Elemental SMGB+A

Co-op adds value to support and frontline archetypes; solo rewards self-contained sustain and single-target packages.

How camp meta affects build tiers

Archetypes that need extra rune slots or baseline damage — elemental SMG, crit sniper — start lower on fresh accounts and climb after weapon upgrades investment. Tier list assumes ** modest camp progress**, not day-one accounts or fully maxed meta.

Updating your build after a patch

When ABUTTON adjusts altar rewards or artifact proc rates:

  1. Re-test one archetype per patch note, not entire rosters.
  2. Compare weapon class baselines on the weapons tier list.
  3. Adjust synergy picks in weapon synergies.
  4. Share findings — this wiki treats playtest guidance as living data.
FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

What is the strongest build in Guns and Dragons?

No official strongest build exists. Provisional playtest trends favor crit precision anchors in co-op and sustain revolver or crit sniper cores in solo — both depend on drops and skill.

Are meme builds ranked low because they are bad?

They are ranked low for consistent efficiency, not fun. ABUTTON encourages excessive combos that can outperform tiers when RNG cooperates.

Do build tiers replace weapon tiers?

No. Weapon tiers rank base classes; build tiers rank rune and artifact stacks on top. Strong builds often elevate B-tier weapons with perfect synergy.

Will support builds stay A-tier at launch?

Unknown. Team aura strength depends on co-op scaling numbers ABUTTON may tune. Revisit this list after launch patches.
